As you mature in your engineering career you have a choice to make- do I develop other engineers or do I just keep developing myself. If you chose the former you will be rewarded from the immediate satisfaction of seeing someone grow. Efforts made to grow others have longer term impacts. Years later engineers will want to work with you, or they will recommend you to others. There exist many avenues for developing others, from the 1:1 coaching, to teaching a class, to observing other engineers and advocating for them to get that next plum assignment.
